Development of the hybridGEOTABS design methodology for feasibility study and pre-design

Abstract
Today, the pre-design and feasibility assessment of hybrid, low-carbon and storage-integrated HVACconcepts, such as hybridGEOTABS, mainly relies on resource-intensive case-by-case building energy simulations, which is a barrier to the realisation of these sustainable concepts in the EU. A new design tool has been developed that allows designers to assess the sizing, performance and feasibility of the hybridGEOTABS concept for their project, which is straightforward to use in the early design stages. This paper sets out the main lines of the research study that has led to this design tool, which is based on an extensive database of pre-simulated building and boundary condition configurations.
