Abstract
The iodine catalysed ceric-arsenite reaction has been studied kinetically. The reaction shows first-order characteristics only in the presence of chloride. The chloride ion also shows catalytic activity. It has been found that in the presence of chloride iodine catalysis is inhibited to some degree. A new mechanism for the reaction is suggested.
