Abstract
On 9 April 2021 the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP) – the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) – decided to impose an administrative fine of €750.000 on TikTok, following an ex officio investigation. The DPA based its decision on the finding that between 25 May 2018 and 28 July 2020 TikTok offered its privacy policy solely in English to Dutch users, including children, thus violating Article 12 (1) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
