- Abstract
- “Markers and Makers of Tradition: The Serially Published Modernist ‘Little’ Anthology (1912-1930)” conceptualizes the little anthology as a distinct hybrid publication in the context of the early twentieth century and situates this publication type in the broader modernist media ecology. The dissertation comprises three case studies featuring three separate little anthologies, each demonstrating the hybridity of this publication type and the characteristic way the little anthology challenged and even transgressed genre and medial boundaries. As a whole, this dissertation contributes to a more holistic understanding of modernist print culture and nuances our understanding of the way a modernist tradition was both marked and made in the early twentieth century.
