Abstract
Discusses the history of scholarship on Greek and Latin Acts and Passions of the Martyrs, more specifically the different views in different periods on the historical reliability and the literary qualities of these texts. The chapter includes a discussion of methodology and an outlook on future research on the Martyrs.
