Abstract
The design and technology of tunable liquid crystal based lenses is discussed. Specific attention is paid to lenses with small diameters and high f‐number and it is demonstrated that in that case a segmented Fresnel lens approach can be most favorable in terms of both ease of manufacturing and optical performance.
