Abstract
Everything that is hidden or appears dark intrigues or fascinates. All cultures realize that reality is never entirely given, or 'transparent', but 'opaque', and must be discovered or revealed. In 'With hidden noise' Marcel Duchamp demythologizes the 'hidden' by, first, reducing mystery to riddle, and then trivializing the artistic riddle.
