Abstract
This paper discusses the principles behind a new vocabulary learning application (SCAP). By applying state-of-the-art NLP and Corpus Analysis methodologies, SCAP helps teachers and (advanced) learners to customize the selection of the vocabulary target items taking into account proficiency level, semantic specificity and cognateness. Moreover, by automatizing the generation of learning materials, it gives a maximal autonomy to the learners, who can choose their own interest domain, and receive several opportunities for exploring the vocabulary of the chosen domain.
