Abstract
LoRa is a new type of wireless communication technology within the category of Internet of Thinks (IoT). In this paper, a new system is designed to monitor and control the power injected to grid from a three-phase photovoltaic inverter system. The system is designed in two parts (two units). Firstly, the measuring and control system unit. This unit connects directly across the inverter to measure the status of the three-phase photovoltaic inverter and to turn the inverter ON/OFF from long distances. Secondly, the monitoring and control system unit. This unit is designed to check the state of the inverter from long distances under two monitoring options: LCD and a smartphone monitoring application. The smartphone application sends and receives the data from a base station unit by using Bluetooth as wireless communication. The smartphone application is a new application, designed by using MIT App Inventor 2 to monitor and control the whole system; this application works only with an Android smartphone. The main advantage of this system to monitor and control the three-phase photovoltaic inverters which have been installed in remote and rural areas.
