Polarizer-free light steering using dual-frequency cholesteric texture liquid crystal mode

Abstract
Fast and quasi polarization independent optical beam deflectors are reported based on the combination of dual-frequency cholesteric liquid crystal (DFCh-LC) and polymer micro gratings. Both the planar and the homeotropic state exhibit low polarization dependence and the response time is acceptable.
