Factors influencing ventilation during ventilation: a clinical innovative study

abstract
During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), once the endotracheal tube is in place, compressions and ventilations are performed simultaneously. Thoracic compressions during the inspiratory phase of the ventilation may push air out the thoracic outlet, so-called “reversed airflow” (RF) and therefore hence may lead to inefficient ventilation and/or oxygenation. (Fig.1B). The purpose of this study was to detect the occurrence of RF and if any we explore the possible factors that can cause RF during CPR.
