Luminescent hyperbranched polymers : combining thiol-yne chemistry with gold-mediated C-H bond activation

Abstract
A highly efficient and straightforward synthetic method, leading to the formation of a luminescent hyper-branched polymer, is described. The simple polymer functionalization step takes advantage of the reactivity of relatively acidic alkyne C-H bonds with a basic [Au(NHC)(OH)] (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene) synthon.
