abstract
Defects in Fe-Mn-Si-Cr-Ni samples were studied at room temperature. Steel samples were deformed during a tensile experiment up to a strain of 17 %. The evolution of the defect structure was followed by Doppler broadening measurements. Before and after the deformation the samples were also characterised by positron lifetime measurements. Light optical microscopy (OM) gave information about the different microstructural phases that exist in the deformed and the undeformed alloys. During deformation a martensitic F phase is induced. The size of the martensite plates increases with increasing deformation. The SW plot during the deformation is not linear.
