Abstract
Harm reduction interventions are an important component of local drug policies. Notwithstanding their evidence-based status, these programmes should be adequately tailored to the specific setting and needs of the community, rather than implementing them as ‘one size fits all’ interventions. When identifying local needs, all relevant stakeholders should be actively involved in the process; multi-agency professionals and drug users. As a result of the local Drug Policy Note 2013-2018, an empirical study was carried out in the city of Ghent (Belgium) with the aim to identify local priorities concerning harm reduction.
