Abstract
An account is given of dialect lexicography. We first define dialect lexicography and then look into metalexicographical considerations. We then turn to the macrostructure and the microstructure. A large section is devoted to data collection, which in our case boils down to a discussion of lexicographical fieldwork for unwritten language varieties. The chapter concludes with some remarks on new technologies and wishes for the future. Examples are taken from different languages but with a bias for Dutch and especially the southern Dutch dialects (Flemish, Brabantic, Limburgian).
