Abstract
For deploying user-friendly and secure services, next generation service providers require a service-aware residential gateway, aiding in the configuration of the home network and end-user devices. This paper studies how part of the residential gateway functionality can be integrated into the service-aware nodes of a converged IP access and aggregation network by introducing a Virtual Home Gateway (VHG).
