- An extension "Maasvlakte 2" of the existing harbour area in Rotterdam "Maasvlakte" was planned. Model tests were necessary to assess the design of the 3 km hard sea defence located at the north side of Maasvlakte 2. Laboratory tests have been carried out in the wave flume of Ghent University on behalf of the design of the crest level and the armour layer of the main breakwater.
