Abstract
Abstract: In a recent paper, Ouyang et al. propose a minimax distribution-free approach to investigate the impact of investing in quality improvement and lead time reduction on the integrated vendor-buyer inventory model with partial backorders. However, the particular form of the investment function that they use to represent the cost of investments in quality improvement does not represent actual practice in many industries. Hence, we develop a modified model using a modified form of the investment function, leading to different results and conclusions.
