Abstract
It is generally accepted that physical inactivity increases the risk of health problems. Therefore, it is important that sport and physical activity are promoted during childhood. Sports camps are well-known initiatives to promote sport. To study whether these camps are effective in promoting sports, we collected data on the profile of participants, their change in perception towards sports and their willingness to engage in sports after the camp. Results show that satisfaction on the sports and instructor and parental beliefs are related to the intention of future sport participation and the change of attitude towards sports participation. We suggest that sports camps offer potential to promote sustainable sports participation, but practitioners should focus on quality of the instructors and sports offered during the camp.
