Abstract
The usefulness and relevance of educational research for practice is a recurring theme in discussions between educational researchers and practitioners. This problem is not new and has been rearing its head since the dawn of the educational sciences. Partly in light of changes in practice, more recent calls for cooperation between research and practice are based on interaction and equality. The contributions in this special issue aim to fuel the debate on desirable forms of cooperation between researchers and practitioners, from the perspectives of both practice and scientific research.
