Abstract
In future broadband telecommunication networks Quality of Service (QoS) will be a key issue. An integrated solution for these QoS requirements is the idea of intelligent routing, which integrates the fields of survivability, congestion control and mobility. In this paper we focus on one aspect, the network survivability. We present a new distributed algorithm, LeapVP, developed for high-performant restoration of network element failures. In LeapVP the route search phase is accelerated by taking search leaps of two hops at the time, through pre-established two-hops Virtual Paths. Furthermore, an overview of the restoration area is built in one node for consistent and efficient spare resource allocation. The algorithm has been simulated in OPNET and results show that the algorithm performance is very well when compared with existing algorithms.
