Abstract
Electrophoretic Image Displays (EPIDs) are an electronic ink based on the reflectance of light on pigments that can be switched in an electrical field. There is no threshold in the optical switching properties of these pigments, which makes passive matrix addressing of a display built up with these pigments impossible. In this article we present a method to introduce such a threshold.
