Abstract
The resource availability cost problem minimizes the total cost of resources required for completing a project before a specified deadline, satisfying a set of precedence relations. In this study we analyze the structure of this problem and compare the strengths and weaknesses of different possible solution strategies. Based on these insights we developed a new metaheuristic approach and demonstrate its efficiency on a dataset of construction projects.
