Abstract
After giving an interview the Governor of the central bank is greeted with great praise by the media. But his prediction of a recession of the Belgian economy is probably based on very complex algorithms whose authors are anonymous; such algorithms were recently responsible for flash crashes on the stock markets. The Governor's advice to the government contradicts itself: public spending should be reduced, but additional support should be given to a bad bank (Dexia). The interview expresses a clear ideology and economic dogmas. The eurocrisis is caused by public spending; Germany and Ireland are proposed as guides we should follow. The markets should be respected. But Irish data show that public debt has increased as well as unemployment (14,8%), and growth is negative.Billions of profit were made by speculation with government bonds;this is ignored by the Governor.Employment and purchasing power are not mentioned in the interview. The Governor defends corporate interest, and is in conflict with the government.
