Abstract
Sexist behaviour of males in Brussels towards a young woman was videocaptured by Sofie Peeters. Commentaries have focused on moral, cultural and ethnic aspects, unemployment and discrimination. We try to add a biological meaning. In all animal species males attract the attention of females, by a large variation of techniques. Subsequently females make their selection. In humans numerous art forms are inspired by love and sexual attraction; noisy or macho behaviour are other modalities. The choice by the women is influenced/determined also by social class, family obligations, religion a o. What is the relationship between the improper behaviour of some Brussels males and their own sexuality? Is repressing sexual desire the solution, as required from youngsters and unmarried in this society? I advocate a positive view on sexual satisfaction, with partners freely chosen and on condition of condom use, in order to avoid unplanned pregnancy as well as transmission of diseases.
