pi-N scattering in the Skyrme model : the Born terms

Abstract
We derive the Born terms for pi-N scattering in the Skyrme model. We introduce an effective model which is equivalent to the Skyrme model at low energy and which contains an explicit O(N(c)1/2) Yukawa coupling. This equivalence suggests that the Born terms in the Skyrme model are those of the DELTA-isobar model. We show in the static limit that this is realised by adding the O(1) background scattering (zero-mode contribution) and the O(1/N(c)) time derivative scattering. Recoil corrections are generated by including collective coordinates for the translational degrees of freedom.
