Hydro-meteorological influences on the behavior and nature of sediment suspensions in the Belgian-Dutch coastal zone

abstract
Main objectives were: (1) increase in knowledge on temporal variability of SPM (suspended particulate matter) within the CTM (coastal turbidity maximum) zone; (2) increased understanding in the spatial variability of the extent of the CTM zone; (3) gaining new insights in the dynamic behavior of HCMS (high-concentrated mud suspensions), and its influence on near-bed processes; (4) evaluating the use of optical and acoustic sensor measurements in revealing the varying SPM nature within the CTM zone; and (5) distinguishing anthropogenic contributions to SPM concentration from the natural SPM variability through time.
