Il desiderio problematico di Frédéric Moreau e di Alfonso Nitti: studio delle analogie tra l' 'Éducation sentimentale' e 'Una vita'

Abstract
The essay focuses on two well known «giovani letterati», Frédéric Moreau and Alfonso Nitti. Flaubert and Svevo each create a protagonist with a rather peculiar mental constitution, that causes them to fail in the topical context which seems to structure the novels L’Éducation sentimentale (1869) and Una vita (1892). The key concept of the analysis is the «desire», understood as an entity which is capable of functioning as the narrative motor of a text. Witch an astonishing analogy, both novels reveal profound changes in the nature of the desire and in the role it plays in the narrative process, evolving from a guiding force to an increasing autoreferentiality that seems to prelude the cataclysms of 20th century literature.
Keywords
L'Éducation Sentimentale, desiderio, Una Vita, Flaubert, comparatistica, tardo ottocento, Svevo, letteratura
