Performance of fiber-reinforced piezoelectric sandwich structures

Abstract
Compared with passive damping control, there are many advantages with active damping control. Therefore, piezoelectric laminated structure plays a more and more important role in active noise and vibration control, not only for nice low frequency control effect but also for light weight. This paper deals with the performance of fiber-reinforced piezoelectric sandwich structures. Both extension actuation mechanism and shear actuation mechanism are applied into the structures, such as surface-bonded and embedded piezoelectric transducer. Different boundary conditions also are researched, which may be used for mode shape control. Different fiber ply angle and different electrical potential are researched. It also gives an external load example for shape control of the composite sandwich plate.
