Abstract
Answer to the spokesman of the Flemish Humanist Society, Björn Siffer. He objected to the proposal of a socialist representative, Selahattin Koçak, to recognize the islamic "Sugar feast" as an official holiday. His argument is that we have too many (catholic) official holidays some of which should first be abolished before introducing novel ones. My view is that our humanist atheist philosophy includes critical analysis of facts and of ethics, full development of every individual, tolerance, and equal rights for all.
