Water quality data from the Paute and Jubones river systems (Ecuador)

Abstract
The uploaded zip-folder includes the data we collected from the Paute and Jubones river systems over two-year period (July 2023 – April 2025) with a temporal resolution of approximately three months. The data record includes information on the aquatic habitat, the abiotic water quality status, the prevailing macroinvertebrate communities, and the presence of both dissolved and emitted greenhouse gases. The data set covers 67 unique stations, though not all locations are represented during each campaign. More specifically, each campaign contains information on approximately 50 sampling stations. The data is provided as (1) a single file that contains the coordinates and (2) a series of individual UTF-8 encoded and tab-separated text files. More specifically, topic (habitat conditions, probe measurements, nutrient concentrations, greenhouse gases, invertebrate community) and campaign (C01 up to C08) were both used as a basis to generate all the individual data files. In addition, each of these files is complemented with an 'Info' file that contains more details on the used variables, units, and methodology, as well as additional relevant remarks. Missing data within the actual data files is replaced by 'NA', while missing or absent data in the accompanying 'Info'-files is replaced by '-'. More information on the methodology can be found in the included ReadMe-file.
