- Abstract
- While Meyfroodt et al. explore the relevance of studying consensus within leadership teams in nonprofit management and leadership studies, and discuss methodological approaches, this complementary research note extends that analysis by focusing on how to analyze and visualize consensus between nonprofit leadership teams. The concept of between‐group consensus refers to the sharedness of opinions across groupings of people, either within or across organizational boundaries. Supporting the work of Meyfroodt et al., this research note—conceived as a sibling article—pursues three main goals: (1) to demonstrate the value of incorporating a between‐group consensus perspective into nonprofit leadership studies for both research and practice, (2) to provide a comprehensive overview of the theoretical and methodological considerations for studying between‐group consensus as a core construct in nonprofit leadership research, and (3) to offer empirical insights into between‐group consensus on perceived organizational purposes by illustrating between‐group consensus mapping and plotting approaches. For comparability, we use the two‐wave dataset from Meyfroodt et al., which includes 473 nonprofit leadership team members from 56 nonprofit organizations. Our analysis highlights future research avenues, both methodological and theoretical.
