- Dit doctoraatsonderzoek richt zich op het gebruik van geavanceerde sensortechnologie en machine learning (ML) om de gezondheid van kalveren beter te monitoren, met een specifieke focus op de vroege detectie van longontsteking en welzijnsbeoordeling. De studie valideert een multivariabel enkelvoudig sensorsysteem (MVSS), oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld voor mensen, voor gebruik bij kalveren. Dit systeem meet belangrijke fysiologische gegevens, zoals hartslag, lichaamstemperatuur en fysieke activiteit, en combineert deze informatie met ML-algoritmen om de nauwkeurigheid van gezondheidsbeoordelingen te vergroten.
