Studies on the regulation and risk prevention of public private partnership in Nigeria

- Abstract
- In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese companies began to transform from contractors to investors integrated with “investment, construction and operation”, and adopted the PPP model to invest in infrastructure in Africa. Nigeria is one of the biggest economy entity in Africa, and has implemented or underlying developed more than 100 projects of PPP. More and more Chinese companies are going to invest in Nigeria through PPP mode. This study is to explore the legal system, regulatory agencies and promotion processes for PPP projects in Nigeria, and identify legal risks such as procurement violation, project breaches, unreasonable amendment of contracts, and the complex and long-term of remedies. Through legal due diligence improving the contract text and selecting favorable dispute resolution to prevent the risks. To provide legal reference for Chinese companies' investment in Nigeria and reduce the legal risks.
