Abstract
You listen, think, talk (preferably in that order). You sit, walk, run. You feel hungry, eat, digest. You are happy, feel sad, perceive pain. You see, taste, feel touch. You breathe, sleep, your heart beats. All of those, and many more, require a healthy brain and spinal cord (together called the central nervous system, or CNS). Composed of various unique cell types and structures, the CNS is an extremely complex and vital organ that is connected to all other parts of the body via a myriad of nerve fibers extending into the tips of your toes. Diseases that undermine CNS function can have an enormous, detrimental impact. This dissertation describes the role of a specific family of molecules (histidinecontaining dipeptides) in the pathophysiology and treatment of the CNS disorder multiple sclerosis
Keywords
