Abstract
Context: The goal of the project is to develop an assessment tool, that can give pupils objective feedback about their interests and talents, and their possibilities in the educational landscape in Flanders. Objective: A longitudinal research design is used to investigate how results on different test components are related to study choice and study success. These findings will be used to create a predictive statistical model for matching study options. Method: Students in junior high school will take different tests. The selection of the tests is based on literature, insights of experts in study orientation and stakeholders in the Flemish school system. Currently, besides background information, following variables are measured: cognitive ability, vocabulary, mathematics, study motivation, self-efficacy, perseverance, interests, technical insight, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. The students will be followed-up until they are Freshmen; In Flanders, this means until students have made their first real study choice.
