Abstract
The evolution of technological possibilities makes us wonder whether cataloguing is still necessary. The card catalogue has been replaced by a catalogue with web access. Has cataloguing work evolved as well? Is ISBD still a topic? The bibliographical metadata infrastructure of the 21 st century is a whole of standards which are put on to make the access to bibliographical data as extensive as possible. Above all it has to be an instrument to maximise the functions of bibliographical data in flexible environments, adaptable to the needs of many users.
