Project: A two center, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled study of the effects of draflazine on cognitive dysfunctioning following coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

01-JAN-00 – 31-DEC-99

A total of 152 cardiac patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass graft surgery will be assessed with a neuropsychological test battery one day before, seven days after, and two months after surgery. Half of the patients (ad random) will receive intraoperative treatment with draflazine or placebo. Haemodynamical and neuropsychological data of the draflazine and the placebo group will be compared to investigate the possible cerebroprotective effects of draflazine.
