Project: Linguistic meaning in the present debate between linguists and philosophers : logicism, positivism and anti positivism.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-94 – 31-DEC-99
- Historical study and critique of modern semantics since the Romantic period until now, both in the philosophy of language and empirical linguistics, with special interest for the (anti) logistic and (anti) positivistic aspects of it since 1950. Reflection upon the relationship between philosophy and empirical linguistics and upon the basic assumptions of modern semantic theories (meaning, holism, poststructuralism, pragmatics, hermeneutics and biological theories).
