Project: Assessing and Improving the Removal of Emerging Contaminants in Constructed Wetlands
16/10/12 – 15/06/16
Laboratory and microcosm experiments are conducted to study factors affecting the removal of metallic nanoparticles and pharmaceuticals in constructed wastewater treatment wetlands. Moreover, it is investigated how the removal of these emerging contaminants in treatment wetlands could be improved, with main focus on changing the aeration regime and properties of the wetland substrate. Subsequently, the results are validated on pilot-scale.
