project duration
10-APR-07 – 09-APR-10
There is an urgent need for female-controlled methods for HIV prevention. Until now, gelsm, films and suppositoria have been used for vaginal microbicide application. A non-medicated silicone elastomere vaginal ring is inserted for three months, improving compliance rates, in 200 healthy, sexual active young women. This multicenter, cross-over study will provide information about acceptability and safety.
