Project: Enzymatische delignification of flax

project duration
01-JUN-03 – 31-MAY-05
Lingin and lignin containing impurities cause problems during processing of flax fibres. The attention is now shifting towards the enzymatic delignification (with laccases and peroxidases) to replace the current chemical treatments for the removal of these impurities. This should result in a more environmentally friendly processing of flax. Gaining insight in the mode of action of these enzymes, their interaction with and impact on their substrate is the main objective of this project.
