Project: Investigation of the Hydrogen Distribution in Multiphase Steels by means of Thermal Desorption Analysis

abstract
Due to the presence of hydrogen (H), strenght and toughness of steel is seriously affected. This pheneomenon leads to H-embrittlement, especially in high strenght steels. For instance, pipeline steel and alloys used in hydrogen powered engines are very sensitive to this phenomenon. Actually worldwide investigation is going on to try to understand the pehenomena and processes involved in the interaction between hydrogen and multi-phase alloys. This research project aims to study the fundamental issues related to this phenomenon in order to contribute to the development of new steel grades with improved resistance to hydrogen embrittlement.
