Project: Optimization of extracellular production of PHA
- project duration
- 22-AUG-08 – 21-AUG-10
- Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are polyesters of 3-®-hydroxylkanoate, which are produced by many bacteria for energy source storage. PHAs have a potential use as bioplastics, which is biodegradable and biocompatible compared to the conventional petroleum-derived plastics. The goal of the project is to optimise production of a bacterial storage compound polyhydroxyalkanoate by varying growth conditions and biopolymer recovery methods.
