- IMRT allows to reduce radiation toxicity as blindness, xerostomie, bone-, brain-, and cord injury. Conventional algorithms are inaccurate when radiation beams traverse bone, sinusses or air cavities leading to convergence errors in IMRT optimisation. Monte Carlo (MC) algorithms remain accurate. This project aims at linking the Peregrine MC engine to the IMRT optimisation technology developped at Ghent University.
