Project: Tertiary treatment of the liquid fraction of pig manure to dischargeable effluents in light of optimization of manure procesing in Flanders

project duration
01-MAR-06 – 29-FEB-08
Manicure is physically separated in a liquid and a solid fraction. The liquid fraction is subsequently treated in a biological treatment plant (nitrification/denitrification). The effluent of this treatment plant is polished to below legal criteria for discharge into surface water. This principle has been constructed in a pilotscale installation in Ichtegem - this project provides two years of environmental monitoring of this installation.
