Project: Degradation of plasma facing materials under ITER relevant lading conditions

project duration
15-SEP-04 – 14-SEP-08
abstract
Heat and neutron loads in ITER cause erosion, redeposition of layers & dust and degradation of materials. They are the main concern from a safety point of view, and will limit the lifetime of the plasma facing components (beryllium, carbon fibre composites and tungsten). The ultimate goal is to predict the thermal shock resistance of these materials after neutron irradiation.
