Project: Improvement of the luminance stability of thin-film electroluminescent flat panel displays.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-97 – 30-SEP-99
- The objective of the project is to improve the luminance stability of the ZnS:Mn, SrS:Ce and SrS:Ce/ZnS:Mn light emitting phosphor films used in thin film electroluminescent (TFEL) flat panel displays so that these displays can be used in new significant applications. This includes : (i) a study of the aging by using new measuring methods (ii) to ascertain the main physical causes of instability of the luminance characteristics (iii) to establish the correlation between the aging behavior and the fabrication processes (iv) to recommend ways to improve the fabrication proces (v) to synthesize some interesting new organic compounds of Ce and Sr as precursors for the ALE deposition method.
