Project: Improving the growth of tropical bitrogen fixing forest trees in the genera Acacia and Casuarina through tissue culture and genetic transformation.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-94 – 31-DEC-99
- Both Acacia and Casuarina are rapid growing trees on poor soils. Gene transfer technologies will be developed and used to introduce agronomically important traits such as insect resistance, and to obtain new tree micro organism symbiosis which are more adapted to the ecological features of the planting sites.
