Project: Ultra sensitive and fast micro-organisms enumeration system validation in drinking water industry.

project duration
01-JAN-99 – 31-MAR-01
A method based on solid phase cytometry has previously been developed for the rapid detection of E.coli in drinking water. The bacteria are fluorescently labelled on a membrane filter and enumerated with the aid of a laser scanner (ChemScan). In the laboratory, the robustness of the method and the practical aspects of the development of a commercial kit will be studied in collaboration with Chemunex, the project coordinator. In addition, the technology will be transferred to a third project partner (Thames water) for evaluation in the field.
